The army had a range of specialist clothing and equipment for arctic warfare, including covers for many of the standard items of equipment that were produced in temperate colours. The Mk 6 helmet was nearly always worn with a helmet cover, and we have previously covered DPM, DDPM, MTP, dark blue and UN blue examples. There was also, of course, a white helmet cover specifically for use in snowy conditions:
Note the lack of elastic loops to mount camouflage on the cover. The cover has a drawstring around the base to allow the cover to be tightened to help hold it on the helmet:
