The presentation of commemorative coasters for military dinners seems to be quite a popular choice across all the services. Earlier this year we looked at a polished slate coaster issued for a Trafalgar Night Dinner by the Royal Navy and today we look at another example, but this time from the Royal Air Force for a commemorative dinner for Battle of Britain Day on the 17th September 2008:

The image chosen here is, appropriately enough, a Spitfire and this was from a dinner held ar Northwood for the Warrant Officers and senior ranks of that establishment. The coaster is made by the same Welsh company as the RN version, as indicated on the rear, cut into the felt backing:

These coasters would have been on the table for use during the dinner and then available to be taken away afterward as a momento of the evening.
