Observant readers may have noticed that we have a new page across the top of the blog for essays and monographs. This is a space for longer form articles to be published that don’t fit into the usual blog format and will be open to submissions from any readers. All I ask is that they be on British, Empire or Commonwealth military history. I hope to add a few of my own pieces to the page over the coming months, but we start off with an excellent history of early snap fasteners as used on many items of military clothing and equipment written by Steve Saunders which is well worth checking out.
