Green Howards and East Yorkshire Regiment Group Photograph

Its been a while since we looked at a Second World War photograph on the blog, so today we have a nice image of a mixed group of men from the Green Howards and the East Yorkshire Regiment:

We can see from the cap badges that half the men are from the East Yorkshire Regiment:

And the Green Howards:

This photograph was probably taken at a training course, either quite late in the war or in the immediate post-war period as several of the men are wearing shirts and ties under open collars on their battledress and some of the NCOs have medal ribbons on their blouses. It must be pretty close to 1945 though as the men have GS caps rather than berets. It is these little visual clues that make interpretting photographs so much fun, a little detecting goes a long way!
