We have looked at a number of different sweethear badges on the blog over the years, and most of those are from different army regiments. The army was not, of course, the only service in the Second World War and although harder to find, examples of Royal Navy and RAF badges can be found. This sweetheart badge is a lovely enamelled RAF badge:

The 1939 Army and Navy Stores Catalogue includes an 18 carat gold RAF brooch costing £2 6s, this example however is at the cheaper end of the market and probably cost a shilling or two. This little badge was found in a box at the market amongst a pile of costume jewellery and set me back the princely sum of £1.
