Tonight we have a series of informal snaps that I suspect were taken during the Malayan Emergency. Unfortunately I have no supporting information, however it is clear that they were taken in a tropical location and the uniforms and vehicles suggest they were taken during the 1950s, so my suspicion is the Malayan Emergency which ran from 1948 to 1960.
The images are very small and were possibly taken on a Box Brownie camera. They seem to have been taken around a base camp and illustrate a mixture of barrack blocks and large tents and show something of daily life with men at rest playing a game, stray dogs running across the road, learning to fire a bow and arrow etc. In many of the photographs large looming trees appear, a small taste of the jungle which covered most of Malaya and was to prove so challenging to those posted to the country.
